Gigawit Control support

This page explains how to connect your gigawit device to Gigawit Control, manage pairing, and keep its firmware up to date. Answers to common questions are further down this page.

Before you start

  • Gigawit Control runs on the web, Android and iOS.
  • On a phone or tablet, allow the app’s Bluetooth permission (iOS) or Nearby devices permission (Android 12 and later) when asked. On some older Android versions, the system also requires Location permission before an app can scan for Bluetooth devices. The app uses it only for scanning and does not read or store your location.
  • Make sure your gigawit device is powered on.

Connect your device

You can connect to a device over USB or wirelessly.

  • USB: plug the device into your phone, tablet or computer, then open Gigawit Control.
  • Wireless: open Gigawit Control and let it scan for nearby devices, then select yours. If your phone shows its standard Bluetooth pairing request, accept it.

Once connected, the device dashboard shows the device’s details, status and settings. The app remembers the device so it can reconnect next time. To remove it, use Forget Device or Remove Device in the app.

Pair headphones or speakers

For transmitters, pairing management in the app lets you:

  • scan for new Bluetooth headphones or speakers and pair with them (put them into pairing mode first)
  • reconnect to a previously paired device
  • unpair or disconnect a device

Some products can also pair from the device itself, using its button or on-screen menu. See the product’s documentation for details.

Update firmware

New firmware brings bug fixes and new features to your device.

  1. Connect the device to the app. USB is recommended where available.
  2. The app checks which firmware is available for your device’s model and hardware version. If an update is available, it is shown in the app.
  3. Choose to update. The app downloads the firmware and installs it on your device.
  4. Keep the device powered on and connected until the update is complete.

Before installing, the app verifies the digital signature, size and checksum of the firmware, and rejects any file that fails these checks. Firmware is downloaded over an encrypted HTTPS connection.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices work with Gigawit Control?

Gigawit Control works with gigawit Bluetooth audio products, including our USB-C dongles (ST03, ST05, ST06, ST08) and transceivers (EV150, EV155, EV156, EV160). Available functions depend on the model, hardware version and installed firmware, so not every setting appears on every device.

The app cannot find my device. What should I check?
  • Make sure the device is powered on.
  • Allow the app's Bluetooth permission (iOS) or Nearby devices permission (Android 12 and later). On some older Android versions the system also requires Location permission before an app can scan for Bluetooth devices.
  • Keep the phone close to the device while scanning.
  • If your phone shows a Bluetooth pairing request, accept it.
  • If the device is plugged in by USB, try the USB connection instead.
Should I connect over USB or wirelessly?

Either works for everyday settings. USB is a direct wired link, convenient when the device is already plugged into your phone or computer. Wireless is convenient when the device is across the room. Which options appear depends on the device and the platform you use the app on.

A firmware update did not complete. What should I do?

Check your internet connection, keep the device powered and close to your phone (or use USB), then start the update again from the app. The app verifies every firmware file before installing it and rejects files that fail the check. If the update still fails, email hello@gigawit.com with your device's model and firmware version, which the app shows in the device details.

How do I set up an Auracast broadcast?

On a transmitter that supports Auracast, open the broadcast settings in the app and set a broadcast name, which is what listeners see when they scan, and optionally a password, so only people who know it can listen. On a receiver that supports Auracast, use the app to see nearby broadcasts and join one; enter the password if the broadcast has one. Classic Bluetooth and Auracast are separate modes on some devices, so follow the prompts on the device or in the app to switch.
